Pilgrimage to St Frideswide's shrine and well 14th March 2017

His Eminence, Metropolitan Hilarion, always keen to visit the holy places of Britain, visited the Shrine of St Frideswide in Christ Church Oxford. He was accompanied By Archpriest Stephen Platt, the Parish priest of St Nicholas Oxford (Moscow Patriarchate), Archpriest Paul Elliott, and a number of London Parishioners. The group had with them the wonderworking Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God. The troparia and kontakia of St Frideswide were sung at her shrine and the prayer above. Fr Stephen then guided the small group to the tiny village of Binsey on the outskirts of Oxford to venerate St Frideswide's well, in the church yard of the ancient Norman Church there. Fr Paul climbed down into the well to get some "holy" water. Any visitor should not drink this water! The little group was struck by the holiness of the place and the presence of the saint.
