Additional Parish Details:

Dedicated to the memory of St John the Wonderworker of Shanghai and San Francisco, who for several years was also the Ruling Bishop of the Western European Diocese and thus of our communities in the British Isles, St John's Parish in Colchester constitutes one of the largest parishes of our Diocese, with an extremely active liturgical and pastoral life. Situated in what was once a garrison church, its large premises house a multi-ethnic and multi-linguistic community that grows years to year. Under the pastoral charge of Archpriest Andrew Phillips, the senior priest of the Diocese, St John's is also served by the Priest Ioan Iana and Spasimir Ivanov, permitting pastoral care to be offered to the flock in English, Slavonic, Romanian, Bulgarian and French.

While the main Altar of the temple is dedicated to St John the Wonderworker, the parish also has a second Altar dedicated to All Saints of the British Isles, which contains within it a number of icons of British saints that are unique to the parish.

In addition to the full cycle of Divine Services, St John's Parish operates the St Helena Sisterhood; an active Sunday School, Russian School as well as a Ukranian School; a sewing club dedicated to St  Juliana; a building club dedicated to St Joseph; and a youth club dedicated to St Alban, the Protomartyr of Britain.
